MANILA, Philippines - If there is a theme bash moi can?t say no to, it?s a luau. But this was not the usual Hawaiian party, dahlings. It was, would you believe, a wedding. Actually a second wedding, palanggas.
So as moi made my way into the venue, moi got the customary Hawaiian ?Aloha? welcome, but this time interspersed with Shalom, the Hebrew counterpart, from the proud parents of the radiant bride, Tami Harel.
The whole scene was like a magical night at the posh stables of the rich and famous, the Manila Polo Club in Forbes Park. The Cogon Village glowed in the sunset, bedecked as it was with gorgeous, colorful tropical foliage and twinkling Tivoli lights. The deliciously crisp weather and exhilarating breeze put all of us in the best mood for a fun outdoor wedding.
Welcoming us were the popular Harel famille, businessman Itshak Harel and his wife, Nancy Harel of Nancy Harel & Associates, Inc., palanggas, together with their children Tami, Ylana and David.
They were there to celebrate Tami and her husband Saad Ahmed?s second wedding reception, the first having been held in Toronto late last July year where they exchanged their ?I do?s.?
This one-of-a-kind occasion was certainly a celebration of life, love and harmony, as the diverse cultures of the bride and groom?s families meshed with the Harels? joie de vivre, dahlings.
At dinnertime, the invitees couldn?t get enough of the huge buffet table?s superb offerings, Hawaiian style. We were also serenaded by tenor Austin Casenas and Bernie Pasamba?s string quartet, with songs from the Broadway musicals ?South Pacific? and ?Fiddler on the Roof.?
Highlighting the affair was a video of the beautiful Toronto wedding ceremony and the lavish banquet that followed. Next up was high-energy entertainment provided by the rhythmic Tribu Carlota percussion band, the Tahitian and Latin dancers, and the Hawaiian fire dancer, all of which provided a change of pace, palanggas.
For the finale, Itshak Harel got the crowd to frenzied cheering with the traditional Israeli ?Hora dance,? which was participated in by loads of invitees. The crowd then segued to retro and Latin line dances led by dance guru/choreographer Mark Esponga.
By 3 a.m. it was time to call it a night, dahlings. But not before everyone was given a token of remembrance of the colorful, enchanted wedding of Mr. and Ms Saad Ahmed. Cheers, dahlings!
