Really, 40s is the new 30s

MANILA, Philippines--?I really prayed hard that Federer wins over Nadal because I want Federer to make tennis history, even saying my novena. I felt bad that Nadal won in the end.? Tweetie de Leon-Gonzales reveals her biases, passion, and oddly, the religious side to her. (A novena for Federer?!)

In the recent Wimbledon match that ran a record-breaking 4? hours, one could only imagine how many mysteries of the rosary Tweetie prayed.

Tweetie, 42, is a full-time homemaker and mother of four. She?s a model, teacher (she teaches in Fashion TV school in Mactan, Cebu), accessory designer (she has a line called Ice and supplies for Paul Smith) and squash enthusiast.

Tweetie is actually a ?freak of nature.? She practises clean living, is happily married and leads a very private life.

Wherein the ?shelf life? of a model is five years, Tweetie has defied industry limits and is now on her 26th year as a model.

Tweetie gets self-conscious when people ask her age. It?s not that she doesn?t want to reveal she?s 42; she just gets embarrassed when she?s met by surprise: ?No way! You look like you?re just in your early 30s.?

In the malls, people stare at her. When on vacation in Boracay with husband Momon and the kids, Tweetie draws attention once she dons her two-piece. Four kids, the eldest being 12?and that great body?

Blessed with genetics

Tweetie is blessed with ?genetics? and yet, she still goes to the gym regularly and watches what she eats. Her discipline is something she had early on in life.

Plucked out of high school at St. Paul, QC, Tweetie got into the limelight at 14 when she did her first TV commercial for a soap brand. We remember her as the country?s one and only supermodel?she competed in the 1987 Supermodel of the World in New York.

Tweetie is now a household name, and a wellness icon associated with Nestlé?s Nesvita ProDigestion and ProHeart milk product lines.

As spokesperson for the corporate wellness campaign of Nestlé, Tweetie makes a pitch for wellness by talking about discipline through sports, eating right and taking care of one?s well-being. ?Actually, I am catching up with my calcium requirement by drinking milk since I was not a big milk drinker when I was growing up,? she says. ?I usually start my day by having Nesvita yoghurt and a glass of Nesvita Pro-Digestion and end the day with Nesvita ProHeart with Plant Sterols. I badly need fiber for my digestive needs. I need to take care of my cardiovascular health, being very active in playing squash almost every day at Palms Country Club,? she adds.

For Tweetie, being in her 40s is a springboard for bigger things in life. 40s is the new 30s.
