MANILA, Philippines - There are weddings and there are weddings but this one is one for the book, dahlings.
They were introduced to each other four long years ago during a grand convention in Manille. Immediately they fell in love.
Theirs blossomed into a long-distance love affair. Sally Marjorie lived in Cebu and Leslie was a Manille boy. It wasn?t easy for both, but they carried on, through phone calls, e-mails and frequent plane trips to and from Cebu and Manille.
The bride is the daughter of engineer Peter Dy and Sale Dy while the groom is the son of engineer Raul Lugtu and socialite Ching Lugtu, palanggas.
The partying started three fun-fun days before the wedding, palanggas. Being a long weekend, the couple?s famille treated their guests to sumptuous dinner parties and a cultural tour of the Queen City of the South.
On the big day, the ceremony was officiated by Fr. Lou Punzalan at the superbly decorated Sacred Heart Church. The radiant bride looked regal in her tres elegant wedding gown by her favorite couturier Ronald Villavelez. She was escorted to the altar by her proud father. The wedding entourage all wore tiffany blue with metallic silver.
Grand reception
The invitees moved on to the reception at the Grand Majestic Convention Center. Renowned florist Pinky Chang, of Pink Flora, executed the winter theme for the reception as requested by the couple. The night started with the slicing of the colorful Pagoda cake, done by Jill Uy. Guests enjoyed the sumptuous nine-course meal! Yes nine, palanggas!
There was a simple program after which the couple had their first dance. They danced to Michael Buble?s ?Save the Last Dance with Me.?
As always, the wedding got on a roll, with the invitees hitting the dance floor till way, way past Cinderella?s bed time.
To show their appreciation to their guests, the couple raffled off several mobile phones and gave each guest colorful heart-shaped mother-of-pearl tassels as souvenirs.
But that didn?t end there, dahlings. The biggest surprise was when Leslie got on stage and sang with all his heart for Sally a Chinese love song, ?Yue liang tai biao te Xin.? A week later Sally and Leslie Lugtu jetted off for a romantic honeymoon in several glorious European cities.
Now, didn?t moi say, this was surely one for the book? The love book? Cheers, palanggas.
