MANILA, Philippines? We wear sunglasses for many reasons?for protection from the sun, for hiding our eye bags, or simply for making our outfits more interesting.
When it comes to design and style, we usually look up to some of our favorite Hollywood celebrities for inspiration. However, just because Nicole Richie looks good wearing saucer-sized frames or Brad Pitt with a sleek pair, doesn't necessarily mean they would look as fabulous on you.
Like clothes, sunglasses have to look flattering on your face features. Know what shapes of sunglasses suit your face structure, and what shade looks good on your skintone.
Oval faces
There are more frames that look good with this face shape. As long as the size of the frames is in proportion to the face.
It is safer to go with square shaped frames.
Oblong faces
Round or square frames look best on oblong-shaped faces.
It is better to get big frames that cover as much of the center of the face as possible to minimize the length.
Round faces
Choose square or rectangular frames to even out the look.
Frames one should get are those that are as wide or even wider than the widest part of their face. This gives the face a longer shape.
To play down the roundness, select frames with straight or angular lines.
Deep colors such as black or tortoise also minimize fullness.
Square faces
Complement a square face with frames that are slightly curved.
This will soften the angles of a square face.
Make sure to pick rimless glasses.
Heart-shaped
Square sunglasses are most flattering for this face shape.
Also, aviator shades will work great among many other styles.
Stay away from wide sunglasses that will draw too much attention to a wider forehead.
Keep the following things in mind also when choosing sunglasses to suit your face shape:
The edge of your frames should be a bit wider than the widest part of your face.
Warm skintones look best in gold, tan or pink frames.
Cool skintones look great in white, black and silver frames.
