Without Batting An Eyelash
Street fashion rides high

MANILA, Philippines—Warehouse 135 was the place to be in last week when Diesel got our town’s party people and social set breezing in their most funky outfits and dancing shoes, dahlings.

Occasion was the awesome Diesel Fall-Winter ‘08 collection that definitely set the fashion bar higher.

Music and fashion merged to create an über night out—the Diesel Rocks Manila show.

Diesel’s Fall-Winter look was presented on a custom-made treadmill ramp, with remarkable performances from the dancers and models who ran and danced on stage, donned in the trendy and vibrant Diesel clothes for men, women, and accessories. The show was brilliantly choreographed and directed by Robby Carmona. The show included a mixture of metal trusses, laser lights, digital setups and great sounds that exude a hip New York club. Really incredible, palanggas.

The affair had hot couples present, including this couple at the back of the second floor, kissing like there was no tomorrow. They were kissing so much, the filling of their teeth could have melted. Wow!

In attendance were Diesel’s regional head of communications, handsome Fed Tan, with Stores Specialists Inc.’s Mike Huang and Malu Francisco, SSI merchandising manager for Diesel, Karen Guinto.

Diesel is exclusively distributed by SSI and is available at Greenbelt 3, Power Plant Mall, Shangri-La Plaza Mall and Robinsons Place Manila.

New model officers

Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP) held its team-building seminar and elections at Tarawoods, Batangas.

Naturellement, there were tons of activities during the two days of fun and work, palanggas. Capping off the get-together was the election of the new board of PMAP: president Ariel Atendido; vice president Isabel Roces; secretary Mia Ayesa; treasurer Marilen Faustino-Montenegro; PRO Phoemela Baranda; disciplinary officer Bianca Valerio; special projects officer Peter Norrdell; and junior board member Raphael Kiefer. The eight board members will serve a two-year term, 2008-2010.

The bash was held at Fiamma. Guests toasted the PMAP’s new board, while wishing hard-working former president of the associatio, Rissa Mananquil, the best of everything for her in the future, dahlings.

“I want to give you my deepest thanks for all your help and support,” Rissa said during the induction. “It was an honor to be of service to PMAP for eight years. Thank you for always believing in me. I hope you can give Ariel and his new board the same love and support you have given me. I have no doubt they will make us proud. Mabuhay ang modelong Pinoy!”

Accounting firm turns 20

The renowned accounting, tax and business advisory firm, Punongbayan & Araullo (P&A), celebrated its fantastic 20 years of excellence with a cocktail reception for clients, colleagues and tons of friends from the business and government sector.

Held at the popular Blue Leaf Events Pavilion in McKinley Hill at The Fort, P&A was founded by Ben Punongbayan and Joe Araullo, well-respected personalities in the accounting and banking world. The firm’s soft opening happened, appropriately enough, on Valentine’s Day in 1988. At that time, P&A had all of eight people on board, seven CPAs and one secretary.

“Even if we were only eight at the time,” says Joe Araullo, “we built the office to accommodate more than 100 people. The way we looked at it, we were going to be successful. Why lease a small place?”

It’s no surprise, palanggas, that P&A expanded quickly, bagging several hot privatization engagements that helped establish the firm’s reputation, attracting CPA board topnotchers in the process.

Now known as “the firm with a big heart,” P&A currently has partners, a personnel complement of over 500 people and five offices all over the country.

Hey, not bad, palanggas, di bala!
