MANILA, Philippines ? Dear Emily,
I had a relationship with a married man for more than three years. I am a single parent with one son and I would like to start life anew, according to what my Catholic upbringing has taught me.
The problem is, my former boyfriend just won?t let me go. He has threatened to kill me just so no other man can have me. My papers for Canada are in process and he has told me that he will use his connections to prevent me from leaving the country.
I have filed an affidavit of desistance with the barangay where I am residing just for them to know that if something happens to me, it?s my ex-boyfriend who is to blame.
I?ve stopped liking him because he is married and he is sleeping with four other women (I can track his whereabouts through his two cell phones).
?STARTING LIFE ANEW
You cannot just file a complaint against your boyfriend with your barangay. This is your life we?re talking about, not your dog?s!
Make your creep of a boyfriend know you mean business by filing your complaint?first to a police station near you so that his threat will be recorded in the official blotter, and on to the fiscal?s office to make a criminal case against him and put a stranglehold on his evil plan.
He has murder in his mind with you as the victim, so you might as well show how tough you are to this jerk who it seems cannot take no for an answer. You two were in love once, but now it is over, kaput, period!
What in the word ?no? does he not understand?
What connections does he brag he has with the Canadian immigration? And what harmful gossip will he tell them to affect your departure? That his mistress who is a single mother has not only left him unceremoniously?a four-timing married man?for good, but is running away to save her dear life which he is threatening to snuff out?
Let him be. The Canadian consulate might even hasten your departure because of this criminal in the making.
Just remember that he cannot kill you if it is not your time yet. He is not God. Nevertheless, he has no license to make your life miserable.
