MANILA, Philippines? We all come to a point when we can?t protect ourselves. We realize that we?re limited in knowledge, power and ability. Whom do we turn to for protection? In the Bhagavad-Gita, the Supreme Being states that He gives protection to people who take shelter in Him?and He never fails them.
Great sages tell us to seek His shelter and give up our ?I can manage on my own, I?m independent? attitude. Many people do pray to the Supreme Being for protection, but with personal directives like ?Please give me this. Do this for me.?
?Our will be done?
We feel we know what?s best for us, so we ask the Supreme Being to have ?our will be done.? We?re like backseat drivers?we want things done the way we think is right. But, He knows better!
Sometimes, our best doesn?t suffice in times of crisis, so we should remember the Supreme, just as small children automatically remember their father or mother when they encounter danger or difficulty. They may venture some distance away, but they always look back and check if their parents are still around.
Similarly, we should learn to turn to Him for help at any time. Haribol means ?take shelter and call out the names of the Supreme.? Let?s take advantage of His protection. The Supreme Being is true to His words!
