MANILA, Philippines? On Mike Sandro?s birthday, Jimmy and Jenny Napoles, owners of the hot Jimmy?s Bar and Restaurant located along Timog, suddenly hosted a bash for him.

Thanks to today?s texting technology, Mike?s constant companion and my palangga, PR practitioner Louie Cruz, zapped text messages to close pals to drop by and celebrate with them.

Unfortunately, I didn?t make it to the birthday bash because of a previous engagement. Witty Louie texted me, ?I know it?s a sudden decision, and the fact that coming all the way to Quezon City is like needing a visa to get here.?

Early bird was Jeena Lopez who dashed in from her nearby office. She was followed by Asian Dragon?s editor in chief Lito Gutierrez.

It was a surprise to the hosts that loads of Mike?s pals made it despite the last-minute notice. Hey, ain?t that what good friends are for, palanggas?

But there was a bigger surprise when top pianist and renowned entertainer Chris Medina performed for Mike, I was told.

Not to be outshone, beauty queen Peachy Veneracion belted out hot songs.

Multitalented Emil Quejada showed off his versatile talent.

Then as finale, Mike sang, showing he was in a perfect mood to celebrate.

The entire evening was actually a mini concert for all present, dahlings.

But the best surprise for our King for a Day was when he saw his younger brother, Sandy, walk in. For Mike it was a totally complete celebration, being surrounded by close friends, famille, his loved ones and lots of music.

Upscale shopping place

If you still haven?t noticed, palanggas, G-5 (Greenbelt 5) has become the premier chic style landmark in the country today. Its Fashion Walk was the venue for the celebration of G-5 as a ?Monument To Style.?

In her short welcome remarks, Ayala Malls vice president and chief operations officer Rowena Tomeldan said, ?The vision of Greenbelt 5 is to provide Filipinos with the proper avenue to showcase their talents. It provides a one-of-a-kind shopping and dining experience that can?t be found elsewhere in the country, and its newest feature, the Fashion Walk, is no exception.?

While socializing, we enjoyed the superb and sumptuous cocktails from Greenbelt 5?s Cibo, natch.

Then we sat down to enjoy a fashion show, consisting of creations by different Filipino designers and prestigious international brands that have made G-5 their haven, dahlings.

Après the show, it was like a women?s bazaar! The chi-chi bunch were buying out clothes like they were peanuts.

Then I noticed one socialite paying her purchase with two different credit cards. ?Why two?? I asked her. ?Oh, because I?m so used to buying with credit cards that one time in the States, I bought several things for cash, and since I was so used with credit cards, I signed all the dollar bills,? she told me, laughing.

I also laughed. She was cool.

With the incredible mix of retail brands?from Filipino designer boutiques to furniture shops, a mélange of restos, and the lush outdoor gardens, G-5 has truly become a ?Monument to Style,? palanggas.

Fashion mecca

Manille?s fashion set were present and accounted for when Theodore?s the Store unraveled its most sought-after designer cult brands in an exclusive cocktail exhibit, ?The Great Exploration.?

Not just a store, Theodore?s is a fashion lifestyle mecca where you can enjoy the eclectic taste of Theodore?s exclusive labels, dahlings.

Theodore?s also opened its doors to the latest addition to the frenzied magazine industry??magalogue??brilliantly conceptualized by the duo of Michael Salientes and Yodel Pe.

Only 300 copies of ?magalogue? was printed. They were given to the invitees that night.

The launch was superbly hosted by tres charmant Ivan Zalameda, no less, palanggas.

A glam party wouldn?t be complete without a raffle. Lucky winners were Globe Asiatique?s Divine Lee, who got the Shaoo bracelet; Inquirer?s vivacious Tals Diaz (toy watch); Puey Quiñones (Kid Robot Mini Mobile); TV personality Daphne Oseña-Paez (Shaoo necklace); fun Bryan Boy (P10,000 gift check), and Jeroen van Straten and Jay Cu-Unjieng. The latter two won Franchi Menotti watches from Italy, dahlings.

Hot sponsors included Hennessy Cognac, Belvedere Vodka, Rene Barbier Wines and the Pasto group of Conrad Alcantara, which provided the sumptuous Italian yummies.

Theodore?s the Store is located at Quadrant 4, Bonifacio High Street. It?s right beside Club Ascend.
