MANILA, Philippines? You can add dash to a plain box, fabric or garment by infusing leaf patterns. All you need are a rolling pin or better yet a roller brush, a paint brush, rubberized textile paint and any material on which you want to design. Wendy Regalado, president of the Philippine Horticultural Society, favors the Davallia leaf because of its strong veins. ?You can use other leaves that have edges that don?t curl up and have nice veins.?

1. Cover the table with old newspaper and place some under the fabric or garment for support.
2. Paint the back side of the fabric. Do not add water to the paint because it will be runny.
3. Cover with more newspaper and roll.
4. Remove it and you have a patterned tablecloth or outfit. Marge C. Enriquez
