MANILA, Philippines—We scoured the metro for exciting new stuff and discovered quite a few finds. From the latest Pilipinas shirts by Rhett Eala to relatively new brands like 8 and a Half and 101 New York, here are fab finds that are sure to tickle your fashion fancy.

Patriotic chic

Collezione C2’s latest collection features even more variations of the Philippine map emblazoned on T-shirts and incorporated into colorful designs with skulls and bold graphic elements.

Inspired by artists Damien Hirst and Andy Warhol, C2 Creative director Rhett Eala says “This collection is an off-shoot of my ‘Pop Nation’ art exhibit where I featured paintings with different renderings of the Philippine map. These designs are also now echoed in our newest tops.”

C2 fans will love Eala’s tongue-in-cheek shirt that shows tiny versions of the map printed in patterns, mimicking Murakami prints on Louis Vuitton bags.

The “Super Pilipinas” shirt adorned with 2 versions of the map, the Collezione C2 crest and the word Pilipinas in the back are also humorous if over-the-top style statements. You can’t get any more patriotic than these items.

Check out Collezione C2’s latest offerings at Market! Market!, Robinson’s Galleria and TriBoma. Prices range from an affordable P450-P650 for the shirts, so they make perfect gifts as well.

A tip: The goods tend to go fast, so don’t wait too long to snap up this latest collection. Or get on the list, as some items will only be available in stores from mid-October to December.

Big Apple style

101 New York offers savvy streetwear bristling with urban flair.

The New York-inspired clothing comes in a wide array of styles for both men and women. Classic, versatile and wearable pieces are given contemporary makeovers with a pleat, a ruche or a little tuck here and there.

You can easily dress up (or down!) any of the items from this collection to take you from day to night affairs. Plus, pieces are easy to mix and match, and personalize with the use of accessories.
Prices range from as low as P499 for a top to P2,999 for a jacket.

Make room in your closet for 101 New York available at Landmark Department Store in Makati and TriNoma, Robinson’s Place Manila; with free-standing stores in Robinsons Place Manila, SM City Pampanga and soon in SM Fairview and SM Megamall.

From RTW to made-to-order

Carmen Papa-Reyes has been in the fashion industry for 23 years now, although mostly behind the scenes as a supplier of clothing for highend boutiques and department stores.

“I’ve always wanted to establish my own brand but thought it was too expensive to open a store in the mall. So when the opportunity to put up a store together with two other people came, I thought it was practical and finally jumped at the chance,” she said.

The brand 8 and a Half came to life with the basic premise that fashion is ever-cyclical and ever-evolving. The brand features structured, classic and smart casual clothing that you can wear during the day and for dinners as well. A few evening pieces are also up for grabs.

What’s special about the brand, however, is it does not just offer ready-to-wear pieces. Clients can also order made-to-measure or made-to-order items depending on their needs.

So, if you can’t find anything in the store to suit your tastes or needs, you can easily have something designed and made for you.

“We always make sure we match the personality of our client to the design we’re executing,” Papa said.

For off-the-rack items, prices start from P1,480-P3,880; 8 and a Half is available at Tresorie, 2/F, Doña Consolacion Bldg., Jupiter St., Makati.
