WE made sure to be aggressive and just gave everything we had,? Chris Tiu, team captain of the Ateneo Blue Eagles, explained their recent 2008 UAAP basketball championship?a decisive Game 2 of the best-of-three finals series against archrival De La Salle University.
Chris, who?s just played his final year in UAAP, is planning what he?ll do after graduating next summer. In the meantime, he is relishing his team?s victory.
Tiu led the Ateneo Blue Eagles in their finest UAAP performance in the last two decades?11 straight wins en route to the 2008 championship. Tiu was named one of the 2008 Mythical Five, averaging 14.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
Christopher John Alandy-Dy Tiu, 23, is a rare student athlete. This Xavier High School graduate skipped a year playing for the Blue Eagles to study in France, then returned home to pursue a second major in Finance and Applied Math.
A consistent dean?s lister, Chris is also an active member of his barangay, a former SK chairman who eventually became a ?kagawad? in his village. He now spearheads the barangay council?s sports development programs, organizing basketball meets and other activities for his constituents.
Certified ?Kapuso?
Chris is also now trying his hand in show business?in ?Pinoy Records? as Manny Pacquiao?s co-host. He also has his own show, ?Ripley?s Believe It or Not?. Since he has to be in front of the camera, being fit continues to be a primary concern. He has to watch his build.
How does he do it, given his activities?basketball, studies, public service and show biz?
He starts the day with a healthy breakfast for he believes it is the most important meal of the day.
He prefers Nesvita Oatmeal 3in1, a delicious mix of oats, milk and sugar. This high-fiber diet is good for faster metabolism and give one a feeling of being full.
