MANILA, Philippines??Earth Designs: Environmental Applications Research and Trends in Habitat,? the graduation exhibit of the Advanced Class of 2008 of the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID), is ongoing until Oct. 31, at the Athena Building, Eastwood City, Libis, QC.

Young Filipino interior designers are heeding the call of Mother Nature by mounting this exhibit featuring environmentally sustainable materials.

With the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Eastwood City, ?EARTH? celebrates PSID?s 41st anniversary with 21 environment-friendly designs, from recycled junk to concerns on global warming, from water recycling to the creative use of energy in home spaces.

The month-long exhibit is showcased in four different habitat settings: High Rise Haven, The Blissful Burbs, Sea Sanctuaries and Peaceful Peaks.

?Climate change is a global concern that translates into a major influence on contemporary design and current trends,? said PSID Prof. Jie Pambid.

Seminars on sustainable designs by WWF have been conducted since the start of the month. On Oct. 25, architect Amando de Jesus, a United Architect of the Philippines fellow and founding chair of the Green Architecture Movement of the United Architects of the Philippines, conducted a lecture on ?Green Architecture and Energy Efficiency.?

On-site carbon footprinting activities by the WWF Philippines are also being conducted to educate visitors on the impact of climate change and global warming. WWF Philippines also informs visitors on how they can start helping the environment in their own homes. A donor program booth has been erected in the exhibit area.

In partnering with PSID, we are not only reaching out to consumers, but also to the younger generation of designers who can effect change by promoting a more responsible design lifestyle to their clients,? said David Valdes, WWF Philippines president.
