Brad’s new project—plus more how to’s

I ALMOST fell flat on my face when I saw a huge tarpaulin displaying Brad Pitt?s face at a Kiehl?s product launch. Not only is he very good-looking; actually, my first thought was, now people can use something Brad (and presumably Angelina) use!

And I?m happy that it?s Kiehl?s. The entire sale of its aloe-vera biodegradable liquid body cleanser goes to support the global environmental initiatives of JPE Eco Systems. Plus, I must say it?s one of the best bath products ever out there.

This has been a very exciting week for me. Aside from feeling closer to the Pitts and feeling like I?m being socially responsible even while in the shower, I received a lot of e-mail at my rbeauty@inquirer.com.ph address. Here are some more of them:

I?ve noticed that my right eye is bigger than my left eye. How should I apply eye makeup to make them look even?

Our eyes are not always symmetric. And you are right, eyeshadow can help make them look even. I would say it?s in the shading of your crease, but this is a wild guess. It?s better if someone can do your eye makeup while you observe, so you?ll learn how to do it on your own.

Go to a makeup counter and tell the beauty consultant your problem. That way, she can help you on the spot and suggest products to use. Make sure to go to the makeup counters of good brands, because they have the best makeup artists.

After you get the technique down pat, you can just go get similar products that fit your budget.

My son?s feet stink. What should I get for him that works?

Make sure his feet are dry when he puts on his socks. Bacteria thrive in damp environments. If he doesn?t have the patience to make sure the skin in between his toes are dry, at least air dry it with an electric fan.

Next, make sure he doesn?t use used socks. As shocking as this may sound, some people do this. Also, men perspire more, so the odor may come from perspiration. Try to use an antiperspirant deodorant on his feet?yes, I mean the kind used for the armpit.

If his feet don?t sweat but has odor just the same, use The Body Shop?s foot spray, which should do the trick. And here?s a DIY remedy: calamansi with water. Spray it on his feet, let absorb, then dry. Calamansi should help with the smell.

I got my belly button pierced. The guy who pierced it said I should just push it up and down while in the shower, but not to put any medicine on it. Is that true?

Yes and no. You should push it up and down so that the metal doesn?t stick to your skin. You shouldn?t use medicine since that will dry up the wound and turn it into a scab. You want your skin to heal on its own.

But you can pour water with salt on the piercing while in the shower. The saltwater solution can prevent infections and will make your wound heal faster. Better yet, go to the beach and swim in the ocean.

I wash my hands a lot. My family thinks I am too much of a germ freak. Is it true this will dry my skin?

Yes. If you keep washing your hands, water on its own will dry your hands. Plus, if you use soap, that will exacerbate it. Try applying hand salve. I like Neutrogena?s and Kiehl?s. Also, you may want to check out anti-bacterial gels with built-in moisturizer.

Thanks for the e-mails!
