A peace caravan will be hosted by the University of the Philippines Visayas Cebu College (UPVCC) Social Sciences Division, Political Science Society and Political Science 165, 150 and 112 classes on November 27.
A film showing and a forum is set at the UPVCC conference hall at 2 p.m. with Professor Octavio Dinampo of the Mindanao People's Caucus and Mashod Salik of the Bantay Ceasefire as the main speakers and UPVCC faculty and students as the panel of reactors.
Dubbed ?Duyog Mindanao,? the objectives of the people's caravan for peace and solidarity in Mindanao Cebu are: to increase awareness on the cost and impact of war on women, children and other sectors of society; to call for humanitarian protection and assistance to people in Mindanao affected by the ongoing hostilities; to call for immediate ceasefire and resumption of peace negotiations; and to broaden the peace constituency.
The one-week caravan, which is led by some civil society organizations, civic, religious, academic organizations, travels from Luzon to the Visayas and Mindanao and stops along major cities to hold forums, discussions and solidarity campaigns about the Mindanao situation.
The activity is open to the public.
