WHOEVER follows through with New Year’s resolutions? I’d bet not even five percent of those who make them— though it’s true the New Year doesn’t feel complete without at least having one.
That’s why for people like me who have a hard time even remembering what I’ve resolved to do at the beginning of the year, the resolution has to be easy. I have to remember to print it and stick it to my mirror as a reminder.
To be more realistic, I’ve resolved to do just one of these five easy tasks:
1. Use SPF every day—Even at home or when going to the mall. This sounds really easy, but sometimes we forget to protect our skin, especially if we are just staying indoors. The easiest way to do this is to go for products like moisturizers that already have SPF, so you won’t really be adding to your routine but just making it work better for you. There are many good products out there that have SPF. Try Olay Total Effects.
2. End the day with a clean face. Dozing off with makeup can potentially cause breakouts. Using a facial wash is not enough. A clean face means no trace of mascara left. Mascara is is one of the hardest products to remove, followed by eyeliner. They’re also in the eye area, so removing them is a particularly tricky task since the skin around our eyes is seven times more delicate than the skin on our face. Getting rid of gunk does take time and extra-loving-care. Try Shu Uemura cleansing oil.
3. Pamper yourself. It is good to set a date with yourself at least once a month. Go to the spa to get a massage, or a salon to have your hair treated. Setting time for one’s self is a good way to de-stress. It can be as simple as locking yourself up in the rest room with your favorite exfoliant and applying mask on your face.
4. Visit the doctor and the dentist. It is good to have our teeth cleaned or checked every six months. Dentist should also be able to update us on the newest innovations such as teeth-whitening treatments, which can give us more confident smiles. Try The Dental Place (tel. 8128891). Also, regular visits to the doctor would ensure that we are in healthy, tiptop shape always.
5. Remember our hands and feet. Not only should we keep moisturizing our hands and feet—they do suffer the ravages of aging—but we should also keep them clean at all times. Never leave nail polish on for more than five days. And when using dark polish, apply a colorless base to avoid staining.
Happy New Year!
