MOM AND ME RECIPE
Sunny side toast

HERE’S a cute breakfast dish you and your child can do together. Studies have shown that if kids help in making a dish, they’re more likely to eat it. With a protein-carb combination, this makes a good breakfast on a leisurely morning. Make sure to serve some fruit too.

Sunny side toast

For each serving:
1 sliced bread
1 egg
1 tbsp butter
Salt, to taste

Kid’s part: Use a cookie cutter to cut out the center of the bread. Suggested shapes: star, heart, circles, etc.

Mom’s part: Break the egg gently into a bowl, making sure to keep the yolk intact. Melt the butter in a skillet (preferably a nonstick pan). Add the bread and cook until the underside is brown. With a wide, heat-proof spatula, invert the bread to brown the other side.

While the other side of the bread is browning, carefully slide the egg into the center of the bread (the cut part). Season with salt. Cook until egg is set. Lift bread and egg together and transfer to a serving plate.
