OUR KING for a Day, Victor Ortega, with Artistry product marketer May Samson, Amway director for marketing & business relations Leni Olmedo and Amway communications & brand PR supervisor Rex Lalata
AT the Samsung Metrowear Gala, we got a preview of the trends that will dominate the style scene this year, presented by Metro Society and Metro Magazine at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel.
As we sipped cocktails, models showed off one-of-a-kind creations in a free-for-all by architect-turned-fashion designer Francis Libiran; artist Patty Eustaquio; Jan Garcia; Southernboy Louis Claparols; Ronaldo Arnaldo; and Puey Quiñones. OJ Hoffer, on the other hand, showed his stunning organdy and silk satin gowns.
Marichu Tan complemented her orange-and-black collection with hand-painted flowers and butterflies. The other designers were Edwin Ao, Ren Manabat, Richard Kuan, Salvador Malto, Arcy Gayatin, Jun Escario, Cary Santiago, Raymond Kuan, Protacio Empaces Jr., Philip Rodriguez, Mich Dulce, Kate Torralba, and versatile Rhett Eala.
But the best part was the après show-bash on the second floor of the hotel’s East bar and lounge, where we had fun and loads of laughs while talking to gorgeous models and chic guests.
Metro Society’s editor-in-chief was the perfect host, making sure our glasses were always filled. He also introduced us to other invitees like the vivaciously adorable Camille Fariñas Mathay who was with her good-looking husband Mackie Mathay and handsome up-and-coming model Rye Fariñas, dahlings.
It definitely was a stylish ending for a fashion forecast, palanggas.
The whole shebang was sponsored by Samsung, Edsa Shangri-La Manila, L’Oreal, Great Taste, Make Up Forever and Lifestyle Network.
Cat Arambulo’s birthday party
She is definitely Embassy’s “It” gal, dahlings, who happens to be this popular club’s senior public relations manager. Fashion stylist and image consultant, adorable Cat Arambulo turned a year wiser at the chic Embassy Fly where the young, the beautiful, the powerful and the young-at-heart all gathered to celebrate with her. The fantastic upbeat sounds of Bombi Balquiedra and Owens Sun penetrated our souls, palanggas. The ultra-party ambience of Embassy Fly kept everyone in super high spirits and energy, lasting until we were practically swept out of the club due to the 3:30 a.m. curfew.
No wonder I was so amused watching this young heiress assisted by three escorts as she went down the stairs of the club. She twisted her foot due to her Eiffel tower high-heeled shoes. Moral of the story is if you want to party hard, wear flats instead and leave your Christian Louboutin or Jimmy Choos at home, honey, di bala.
Cat’s birthday bash was absolutely my party of the week.
Cheers, palangga.
43 going on 25
Victor Ortega is definitely low profile but runs a très high-profile business, dahlings. That’s why when it comes to being beautiful, the social set can be found at the renowned Emphasis Salon. Artistry, a global premium cosmetics and skin care brand, threw the 43-year-old an exclusive bash to celebrate his 25th anniversary in the industry, palanggas.
“As our chief makeup artist, we want to give Victor a blast that he deserves. “This is our small way of saying thank you,” said May Samson, cyber smart product marketer of Artistry, no less.
All roads led that night to Cuisine at Embassy, where Victor and his invitees came in “Victor White.” The affair got rolling, dahlings, with yummy food, flowing booze and, naturellement, fashion and beauty.
Also present at the event were members of World Vision Philippines, an organization that caters to the welfare of less fortunate children. Victor encouraged his invitees to pledge for a child—a commitment that he has been doing for so many years now, palanggas.
Which reminds me about what this one très popular beauty salon owner told me. There is this high-profile society matron who goes to his salon three times a week and spends hours for a total makeover—from mud-pack to eyebrow plucking— just to get an earful of juicy gossip. Well, I guess she likes dirt in her ears. Oops!
Going back to Victor being a World Vision sponsor, Boris Joaquin of World Vision Philippines was super happy.
Also present was one of Victor’s close pals and long-time clients, vivacious workaholic Amor Maclang, PR director of GeiserMaclang Marketing Communications, who praised our King for a Day, Victor Ortega, palanggas.
