THE awarding session of the recently-concluded Nesvita Proweight Management’s “Weight and See” video contest was more like a meeting of the members of Weight Watchers Anonymous Philippine chapter. The top 10 video winners swapped stories and pointers on their best-kept weight management secrets. The prizes were small compared to what Manny Pacquiao gave away when he challenged his entourage to lose weight while he was gaining weight for his fight against Oscar dela Hoya (Pacquiao gave out US$10,000 to the top weight loser).

Winners

The top prize of P50,000 and an iPod Nano went to 40-year-old high school teacher Steve Christopher Wong, who submitted “Ways To Maintain Your Body Weight.” He is fondly called “lao shi” (Chinese term for teacher) by his students from St. Peter School. Wong regularly works out at Fitness First in Mall Of Asia.

In his video, he reiterated the importance of exercise, proper diet and healthy lifestyle.

Second prize winner, Jeffrey Sy, 23, was so elated when he won P30,000 and an iPod Nano. The graduate of De La Salle University (DLSU) promoted his video entitled “S.E.E.cret to Weight Management” in popular social networking sites such as Facebook and Multiply. Sy regularly plays basketball and goes to the gym.

For best friends Jerome Estrella of DLSU-College of Saint Benilde and Chad Senga of the University of Santo Tomas, winning the third prize for “Know Your Body First” was like winning in the sweepstakes.

The duo won P20,000 and an iPod Nano. Buddies since high school, Senga shot the 30-second video with Estrella as his model. Both are basketball and swimming fanatics, and they reiterated in their homemade video the importance of physical activities to be in tip-top shape.

The other top seven winners received an iPod Nano each. They are “Brother” by Maui Reyes, “Little Things Count” by James Michael Deen, “Just Move And Exercise” by Monina Lao, “Tubig Para sa Too Big” by Gerardo Barcelona,“Our Secret” by Carmen del Prado and Julian Rodriguez, “Macho Gwapito” by Jonald Linga and “The 4 Aspects” by James Edward Uy.
