BACKSTAGE PASS
You are the perfume that you wear

FRAGRANCES can enhance romance and sensuality. Note how 19 to 30 percent of ad space in magazines is devoted to fragrances. Just like the clothes you wear, your perfume says a lot about your style and personality.

Stick to a signature fragrance and people will instantly think of you once they smell that scent.

Of the five senses, smell can be the most intriguing, as it affects mood. A scent can bring back memories in seconds. A husband’s perfume can be the sexiest in the world, to his wife. Strong associations with scents can last a lifetime.

Various scents can also provoke different moods. Citrus fragrances are energizing, lavender is relaxing. Some of the most romantic fragrances include jasmine, gardenia, sandalwood and rose. Most men and women are attracted to the scent of vanilla.

Choose wisely when buying scents for yourself and your partner. I asked six standout faces to name their favorite perfumes—and why they love them.

Iza Calzado—Actress

“Avon-Sweet Honesty perfume is a fresh and romantic scent. I can wear it day and night.”

Peter Norrdell—Professional ramp model

“I use a couple depending on the place or event, and if it’s daytime or evening. My favorite is Reaction by Kenneth Cole. It’s a vintage perfume. I like it because it’s perfect for Philippine weather. It has a blend of mandarin, grapefruit and green apple. I feel fresh and confident with it against harsh heat and fumes.”

Jon Hall—model & athlete

“I’ve used several scents throughout the years, but one scent that I’ve stuck to is Clinique Happy for men. It’s a classic perfume that provides a light, fresh, clean scent, subtle enough for the office or a night out.”

Teresa Herrera—TV host and yoga instructor

“Euphoria by Calvin Klein. I love this scent because it reminds me of Asia—very elegant, sexy and deeply mysterious. It adds a whole new element to ‘dressing up’. I call it my finishing touches.”

Luke Jickain—Professional print and commercial model

“I’m more of a sweet-perfume kind of guy. I like fruity smelling perfumes that are young and playful. Women are subconsciously addicted to sweet scents. Combine it with the right amount of mojo plus some Barry White, and you have the time of your life.”
