IT WAS A DAZZLING golden wedding anniversary for businessman Bert Basilio and charity-oriented lady Nonie Tan B. They renewed their wedding vows at Santuario de San Jose, Greenhills, in a Mass celebrated by seven priests, with a dozen pairs of sponsors to boot.

When the church doors swung open, the bride was radiant in an intricately beaded, shimmering gold gown by Pitoy Moreno. Nonie marched down the aisle with husband Bert to the strains of their love song, ?An Affair to Remember.? The guests rose as one and broke into thunderous applause, dahlings.

Cocktails and dinner-dance followed at Peninsula ballroom, which was filled to capacity with 700 invitees who partook of the excellent six-course dinner.

Après dinner, Johnny Litton hosted the program, which featured Chris Gonzales, the child singing sensation; Clara Romana and her flamenco dancers; and the country?s leading soprano Rachelle Gerodias, who blew the socks off the men and the Blahniks off the women, palanggas, with her arias and kundimans.

Then it was time to dance, to twirl, to swing, and to rock and roll.

At the end, our King and Queen for the Day Bert and Nonie Basilio thanked the Lord ?for the gift of a dream come true to have reached our golden year of togetherness.?

Instead of an overflow of presents, the couple requested for donations to their beneficiaries -- the Oblates of St. Joseph, the Mary, Mother of the Poor Foundation, and the Peñaranda Civic and Cultural Foundation.

Fila couple

Celebrating 15 years of marriage at the Shang Palace of the Makati Shangri-La were Butch and Cris Albert.

The two are the dynamic duo behind the iconic brand Fila, now a ?House of Brands? such as Tiva from Italy, Everest from Australia and homegrown Outdoors.

At the same time, palanggas, we said goodbye to Cris, who is leaving for the US to finish the Owners-Presidents management course of Harvard University.

The affair ended on a high note with everyone in high spirits because of the overflow of champagne, dahlings.

Macau food fest

The delicious flavors of Macau had me completely excited over the excellent variety of dishes prepared by namedroppables in the culinary world, who toured Macau last October: Margarita Fores, Luke Gagnon, Colin Mackay, Vicky Pacheco, Myrna Segismundo and Ed Tuazon.

The good news is that all the yummy Macau dishes and more are on the menu of Le Soufflé (Rockwell, The Fort and Citibank Tower), Pepato (Greenbelt 2), Café Bola (Cubao and Greenbelt 3), Chateau 1771 (Greenbelt), Portico 1771 (Serendra), Sala Bistro (Greenbelt) and Restaurant 9501 (ABS-CBN Bldg.) until March 21; and of the Marco Polo Plaza in Davao until April 12. (Macau dishes were served in Cebu until over the weekend.)

All Macau diners will get a raffle ticket. Winners will receive a three-day/two-night Macau holiday package for two, including airfare, accommodations, transfers, daily breakfast in a five-star hotel and tickets to the ?Cirque du Soleil? at the Wonderland Venetian Macao.

We made the rounds tasting many gustatory delights from all the stalls spread around Ayala?s Greenbelt 5 Fashion Week grounds. Mouth-watering portions were passed around by waiters of Cibo di M Signature Caterer.

The program was superbly hosted by David Celdran. It began with welcome remarks by Macau Government Tourist Office-Philippines GM Narzalina Lim. Then the chefs were called onstage and the cocktails continued. Live music was provided by Eileen Sison and the Guarana.
