RUSTAN?S MAKATI FLAGSHIP store launched Liz Claiborne?s summer collection designed by fashion iconoclast Isaac Mizrahi last week.
?Liz Claiborne was an American icon. Her clothes were smart, beautiful and revolutionary. Liz invented separates, thereby creating a new category in department stores. She made fashion friendly and accessible. She became a woman?s best friend,? explains Mizrahi in a documentary.
Mizrahi excitedly talks about being creative director for Liz Claiborne. ?These are ideals I treasure, and I am honored to have the opportunity to build on this fantastic legacy. I?m excited to re-establish the brand as a must-have. Your wardrobe staples,? he said.
Rustan?s introduces the Claiborne brand with Mizrahi?s innovative concept for his debut collection.
?It?s called Colormath, which is just enough color with just enough math to create the perfect balance of brights with neutrals, geometric with florals, feminine details with masculine touches. Color is luxury in this new century,? explained Mizrahi.
Indeed, Colormath can add up a bounty of Mizrahi reds, oranges, and yellows, big florals to pair or mix with black and white dots, and stripes with matching bags and shoes for a head-to-toe look. Mizrahi says this formula can create countless outfits and looks when you add or subtract from the choices of this collection.
The must-own separates are shirtdresses, sweater sets, and wide as well as skinny trousers in many colors. There are tailored boyfriend blazers and macintosh jackets and enough color-sure blouses and tees to spice up your summer add-ons. There are necklaces, bangles, bags and shoes colored like a candy store.
These pieces are the new tonic for surviving this summer?s solstice. Every piece or outfit fits a girl in her ?20s or a woman in her ?60s. Just do the math, it?s that simple.
