Not a likely story now that everyone is more conscious of the current economic global events. But with HSBC?s newest deal, taking home the LCD TV you?ve been eyeing for months can now be a painless possibility.

?We know these are challenging times, which is why all our promos aim to provide our customers with the best bang for the buck,? HSBC head of marketing Chris Rourke says. Simply apply and get approved for a new HSBC credit card and instantly get half off the latest 22? High Definition-ready multi-language MyScreen LCD TV. The LCD TV also functions as a computer monitor and can be mounted on a wall or placed on top of a desk for computer use.

The painless, or perhaps sweeter, part of the deal doesn?t end at 50-percent off. Ron Logan, HSBC?s new head of Personal Finance Services says, ?We?re very excited about our tie-up with MyScreen TV. This promo will provide all our customers with the chance to treat themselves to a high-quality and high-tech TV for the unbelievably low price of P11,500 stretched out over 18 months.?

All it takes is P639 a month to watch your favorite DVDs at home on your new LCD TV. Customers can pick up the TVs from any participating AV Surfer branches or have it delivered to their homes.

HSBC also brings back the Caltex rebate program with a 5-percent rebate on fuel and other purchases at participating Caltex stations when customers use their HSBC credit cards. All sales earn rewards or bonus points that can be claimed as flight miles or other prizes.

?Both HSBC and Caltex pride themselves on putting the customer first. That?s the reason behind our strong and enduring relationship with Caltex,? says Rourke on the revival of the fuel-rebate promotions.

It may be recession, but it doesn?t have to show with HSBC?s latest treats.

HSBC and MyScreen TV promo runs until July 31.
