MUMBAI, India?City authorities demolishing part of a Mumbai slum have torn down the home of a "Slumdog Millionaire" child star.

Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail says he was sleeping in the shanty when a police officer smacked him with a bamboo stick and told him to leave. Shortly after that, the homes were destroyed.

Eight Oscars and $326 million in box office receipts have so far done little to improve the lives of the film's two impoverished child stars, Ismail and Rubina Ali.
