Inside Out
Deficiency is strong motivator for success

COMPLETE this sentence. When I have ______, I will be_______. Most people will include the words: money/ happy or love/ complete, mansion/ fulfilled, health/ grateful.

A profound truth is revealed in the understanding of human behavior?what is lacking in our lives becomes a strong motivator. This is called ?deficiency motivation,? which eventually leads to discontent simply because it is based on what is wrong and missing rather than growth and change (developmental motivation). This powerful law states ?you are a work of art?complete but not yet finished.?

A mind shift requires unconditional trust which opens you up toward giving, serving, loving without thought of the rewards. When we envision movement and development in our lives, we become motivated by dreams. Suddenly, our perception of ourselves is not chained to need, but anchored on service. Our potential will soon become reality. And this is how total wellness is described in three key elements:

Knowledge: What to do for ourselves and why do it.

Skills: How to do it, a daily process, a special way of thinking, a certain discipline in living.

Desire: The want and drive to do it.

Example: After she was diagnosed with cancer, a woman wrote for advice. ?I will do everything it takes to get my health back. Where do I begin?? This is deficiency motivation because the premise is based on not wanting to die, a compensation for lost health. What is missing here even if she sounds determined? She acknowledges a lack instead of seeing herself as already complete even if there are health challenges. Simply put, it?s a spiritual decision. Let?s reword her question and change it into an affirmation. ?I will live with this cancer but I will live my life fully today.? There is nothing wrong with the conviction to one?s self.

Correcting a deficiency is wrong. But what is right is to replace it with a new vision. ?When we are motivated by goals that have deep meaning, by dreams that need completion, by pure love that needs expressing, then we truly live life.?

Prescription

Whether your challenge is physical, emotional or mental, embrace a purpose now, something closest to your heart.

Benefits: Healing of body, mind and spirit.

Like prayer

According to a progressive-minded priest, making wishes in life is much like praying. The most effective prayers are the ones that God likes to hear best. Don?t test the mind of God, he says. Instead, praise and give thanks. Faith combined with gratitude are powerful allies.

Health booster

For clarity of mind, try this. Take a combination of two protein foods per meal or drink protein mix. Avoid fried foods, alcohol, carbonated drinks, refined sugar.

Drink this concoction:

2 c soy milk

2 tbsp fresh kefir (probiotic meal replacement)

2 tbsp virgin coconut oil

Blend with one frozen ripe banana or any frozen fruit.

Affirmation: ?I am perfection waiting to be finished.?

Love and light!
