Titans go for kill

The Oracle Residences Titans will try to add a seventh title to the already-loaded mantle of team owner Mikee Romero as they look to close out their best-of-five Finals series with the Pharex Generix in Game 4 today at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City.

Looking like every bit of the title-favorites that they are, the Titans shamed Pharex in Game 3, 88-70, to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

A win today will give the Romero-owned franchise its seventh consecutive title, this after capturing six straight crowns with the now-retired Harbour Centre name.

Making their chances even brighter today is the return of their four young stars, who are fresh off a stint in Japan with the Smart Gilas RP Squad.

These are the Far Eastern University core of high-scoring guard Mark Barroca along with JR Cawaling, Mac Baracael and Aldrech Ramos.

Add to that mix the sensational play of Chris Timberlake, Rob Labagala, Ediwn Asoro, John Wilson and Mythical Team member Rico Maierhoffer and a title seems imminent for the Titans of rookie head coach Glen Capacio.

Timberlake was a revelation in the last game as he hounded league MVP Chris Ross into a miserable 5-of-16 performance while scoring 19 points of his own.

Compounding the woes of Pharex was the inconsistent play of wingmen Francis Allera and Cebuano Ian Saladaga as the former was held scoreless in Game 3. Ronnie Matias, who scored a career-high 28 points in Game 1, scored just 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
