NESTEA fit beach volley National Circuit ’09 undoubtedly was this summer’s biggest event. The sun was blazing hot when Nestea staged a series of collegiate beach volley games, hot parties, a concert and a cool fashion show in Boracay, palanggas.

The super successful event featured the country’s best collegiate beach volley athletes, the most beautiful faces with the hottest bodies, and high-profile personalities, dahlings.

Welcoming everyone was Boracay’s Mayor Ceciron Cawaling; name-droppable executives like Nestlé SVP and business executive manager for beverages Dennis Austriaco; and Nestea’s hottest movers and shakers, dahlings, plus the Philippine Volleyball Federation secretary-general and Nestea Fit Beach Volley National Circuit ’09 tournament director Otie Camangian.

Eight awesome teams from 16 schools made it to the semis and finals. The Visayas group emerged the champions. Ariel Carumba and Loujei Tipgos of the University of San Jose-Recoletos won the men’s title, while Erika Camille Verano and Apple Saraum of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation took the women’s crown. Both teams received a cool P100,000 cash each, palanggas.

The celebrity matches drew tons of onlookers, dahlings.

As always, Nestea set the benchmark for all summer parties by offering a fantastic mix of fun, excitement and great entertainment.

The popular Nestea event was sponsored by Ipanema, Speedo, Parkmall in Mandaue City, Cebu, L’Oréal Paris, Elsève, and Reyes Haircutters Boracay. Check out the action at www.nestea.com.ph. You’ll love it, palanggas.

Gold Spots Awards

At the posh Aubergine Restaurant, which is one of my favorite restaurants at The Fort, I was invited for an equally posh event hosted by Nescafé Gold and Spot.ph—the Gold Spots Awards, no less, dahlings.
There I was, rubbing elbows with some of the country’s leading restaurateurs and foodies to celebrate “the best restaurants in the metro.” Statuesque, eye-catching Myrza Sison, Spot.ph editor-in-chief and Nescafé Gold cyber-smart marketing manager, good-looking Logan O’Brien hosted this awesome gathering where the dynamic workaholic Margarita Araneta Fores’ Cibo Restaurants received two honors—Best Italian Restaurant for Cibo Nuovo and Best Overall Service for Cibo Dieci.
GM el simpatico Ilonggo Paolo Quimson won Best Cocktails for Martinis and Wilbert Valentino won the Best Club for Embassy Super Club, palanggas.

Best Dessert was given to Miss Desserts owner Elizabeth Lorenzo; Best Chinese Restaurant to Gloria Maris.

The essence of the Gold Spots Awards is “to empower the community with a chance to determine which establishments meet one’s gold standard. A people’s choice award that Manileños know when it comes to their dining experience,” said Spot.ph’s Myrza Sison, dahlings.

O’Brien added: “Gold Spots Awards is a noteworthy event. Nescafé Gold would like to take its relationship with Spot.ph forward and make the Gold Spots Awards one of the major food events here in the Philippines.” Amen, sir.

It was indeed an exciting, unforgettable event, palanggas.

Philippines Yearbook launch

The Philippines Yearbook 2009 edition casts the spotlight on the country’s premier visual artists who have garnered recognition, palanggas, in the local and international art scene, no less.

The Philippines Yearbook showcases 61 “visual artists whose works run the gamut of the traditional to the avant-garde, the symmetrical to the inordinately-shaped—all professing the sublime talent embodied in the Filipino visual art,” explained the book’s young, brilliant publisher Vernon Go, no less, palanggas.

“In acknowledging these visual artists, the Philippines Yearbook focuses on the country’s biggest wonder: her people and their contributions that make the nation stand out in its own sphere in Southeast Asia,” Vernon said at the end of his welcome speech.

The Ayala Museum was packed with loads of our town’s name-droppables from the business world and diplomatic set.

CWC tea party

The Catholic Women Club’s 88th Tea Party is set on June 17, 3 p.m., at the Manila Polo Club. The theme is “Women of Asia: Celebrating Timeless Traditions.” This year’s limited edition plate by Jose Blanco will be launched. “Members and guests are requested to come in Asian attire,” said the civic-oriented woman who cares for the less fortunate, Nene Leonor, dahlings.

The ladies intend to raise funds for more than 90 beneficiaries. Event chairperson is Sol Tan-Gatue, together with co-chairpersons Kim Lokin and Maritess Mendoza Pineda.
