BACKSTAGE PASS
Quick beauty solutions

Filed Under: Health and Beauty Products

MANY people wonder how models and celebrities manage to look good all the time. Here are simple beauty tips and tricks to get some of that star power for yourself. I gathered the best ones suggested by style editors and ?beautiholics.? It?s also based on my personal experience.

Smoothen rough heels

?Because we want our feet to look their best in sandals and flats, cracked unsightly heels are a no-no. We are lucky enough these days to have home foot spa services (I love getting them from Massage R? Us; Totally Nailed and Nails at Home?all reasonably priced spa solutions). If you?re on a budget, use pumice stone or wooden foot file. Make sure your feet are soapy and wet in the shower when you scrub and, before going to bed, lather on foot lotion. If you?re okay with putting petroleum jelly on your feet while wearing socks at night, this is also very effective. You?ll have guaranteed softer heels in the morning.??Ria Grey Romero, marketing and global communications manager, Friendster Inc.

Conceal dark circles

?I suffer from dark circles under my eyes so I have done my share of selecting the best concealer and swear by Shu Uemura and Yves Saint Laurent. Dab lightly over the unwanted area and finish off with powder.??Rosanna Ocampo, clothing designer

Brighten pale face

?For a pale face, a bronzer is your best bet for an instant healthy glow. Dab on forehead, nose and cheekbones where the sun naturally hits the face.??Stef Cabal, contributing writer, Inquirer Lifestyle and Look magazine

Hide spider veins

?For spider veins, use an awesome concealer like Awake or Laura Mercier. The same blue tint for under the eye can be applied to the blue tint of the spider vein. Use a concealer brush and patiently (and lovingly) apply it on the vein using feathery strokes.

For dimpled thighs, since women with cellulite are predisposed to this condition (it?s totally genetic?check your lola or mom?s thighs), women in their teens and early 20s should do all they can to prevent this by hydrating to a maximum and working out and eating well every day. The moment you get lax on this, dimples and orange peel-like skin show up like the plague. For women who already have cellulite, try using a moisturizing body scrub to boost circulation in that area.??Romina Urra-Gonzalez, image and editorial consultant, Metro Weddings; style editor, Working Mom Magazine

Good product

Sometimes the key to a speedy solution is using a good product that directly addresses it.
To brighten dull skin: L?Oréal White Perfect Night Cream, which acts during the night and gives rosy radiant skin in the morning. The cream contains vitamin E, which is known to fight against free radicals and known to enlighten skin so it doesn?t look dull and yellowish.
To whiten dark underarms: Rexona recently introduced Skin Light with Sunflower Oil, a deodorant formulated to achieve lighter underarms in as short as two weeks.

To look fresh without using makeup: Slap on a tinted moisturizer like Pond?s Age Miracle Anti-Aging Tinted Moisturizer. Loaded with SPF 15, it protects your face against the sun?s harmful rays while providing a luminous and natural makeup finish. It comes in two shades that are good for light or dark complexions.

All products are available at SM department stores and Robinson's department stores.
