THE CATHOLIC Women’s Club (CWC) recently held their first tribute to the women of Asia.
At their Annual Tea 2009 called Women of Asia: Celebrating Timeless Traditions held at Manila Polo Club, CWC members and their invitees breezed in garbed in colorful Asian costumes, palanggas. The hugely successful event, chaired by Sol Tan-Gatue with co-chairs Kim Bernardo-Lokin and Maritess Mendoza Pineda, featured a program highlighting the club’s tea ceremony “as a symbol of unity in helping the less fortunate.”
Meanwhile, CWC 2009 president Nonie Basilio announced her new pet project, Vocational Scholarship Program, for the poorest of the poor, in partnership with the Don Bosco School, dahlings.
Other program highlights included an outstanding member award to Ambassador Nida Vera, induction of 16 members, Balinese wedding dance, spectacular performance by soprano Rachelle Gerodias to the delight of guests. CWC’s Limited-Edition Plates, which are on sale, feature “Madonna & Child” by artist José Blanco.
“Now on its 88th year, the Makati-based Catholic Women’s Club is one of the country’s oldest charity organizations with a mission of helping the needy and less fortunate. It currently supports more than 100 charities all over the Philippines,” said die-hard, dedicated civic leader Nene Leonor.

Voted Metro’s Style Icon was the gorgeous and stylish Curtis; Mega’s Style Icon was handsome, rich and absolutely charming athlete Tiu; and Preview’s Style Icon was the hip and talented trendsetter Van Straten. They went onstage full with confidence, style and elegance, dahlings.
