‘Ambassadors of Light’ need help

AMBASSADORS of Light (AOL) is the name Anderson Go gave a group of children aged seven to 14 who are ?unsighted? but musically inclined. Anderson himself lost his sight at 14 years old. His mother contracted German measles when she was pregnant with him.

This condition didn?t stop Anderson from taking up music. He was the first ?unsighted? graduate of Music at the Philippine Women?s University. He is a tenor. And he wanted children with the same special condition to be given a chance to pursue a music career.

AOL was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on June 14, 2003, with Parents Advocate for Visually Impaired Children (PAVIC) and Resources for the Blind Inc. (RBI).

Korea music fest

The Tantoco Noye Foundation caters to people with disability, who are in the field of art. They are organizing the Wataboshi Music Festival to be held in Korea, August 31-September 4.

Ambassadors of Light Inc. has been invited and five members will need assistance for their plane tickets. Please text Anderson at 0908-7400359, call 994-7608; or Malou at 0920-2192477. On their return to Manila, Geraldine Osias, vice chair of the foundation, and Sonia Atabug, PRO, will organize a fundraising concert for scholars.

San Roque fiesta

Father Andy Ortega Lim, parish priest of San Roque Parish in Mandaluyong, has prepared a nine-day Novena of Masses from August 7-15, 6 p.m., to honor San Roque whose feast day falls on Aug. 15. Fiesta Masses on Aug. 16 will have Antipolo Auxiliary Bishop Francisco de Leon celebrating Mass at 9:45 a.m., while Bishop Emeritus Teodoro Bacani will say Mass at 4:45 p.m. Procession follows at 6 p.m.

Mass celebrants during novena days at 6 p.m. are Fr. Robert Gaa (August 7), Bishop Bernardino Cortez (August 8), Bishop Soc Villegas (August 9), Fr. Gerard Metal who will hold a Healing Mass (Aug. 10), Msgr. Ding Coronel (August 11), Msgr. Esteban Lo ( August 12), Fr. Gene Geronimo (August 13), Fr. Andy Lim (August 14), and Monsignor Bobby Canlas (August 15). San Roque, or Saint Roch in French, is invoked against plagues.

Giving rice away

It is a tradition in San Roque Church in Cavite City to give away bags of rice to the poor in Cavite City on the feast of San Roque. Novena Masses will be held August 7-l5, 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. A ?karakol? will take place on August 15 at 2 p.m., in coordination with the Cofradia de la Nuestra Seńora de la Soledad de Porta Vaga, with Bro. Ryan Enriquez as president. Concelebrated Mass will be on Aug. 16 at 8:30 a.m. Fr. Cesar Reyes is the new parish priest.

New parish priest

Father Vic Robles, who built the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Marilao, Bulacan, will be installed new parish priest of San Juan Evangelista Parish on August 5 at 5:30 p.m. The church is located in barrio Agbagnin, Sta. Maria, Bulacan.
