DEAR CECILE,
Thank you for your letter, even as we understand your agitation and disappointment over the decision of the CCP Artistic Programs Committee. However, the CCP decision that stipulates the courtesy of the first performance to the major presentor has been concurred by the Board of Trustees and the outgoing President Nestor Jardin.
Furthermore, in consultation with other local and foreign artists, this policy is a logical universal practice as initially communicated to you. This is also the reason for including this clause in the updated contracts between CCP and its invited artists, in order not to create future misunderstandings.
We are also concerned about your misgivings in providing your artistic services to CCP for the past 40 years. While we are grateful for your continuing collaborations with us, we would like to think that the CCP is not remiss in its obligations to you by remunerating you for such services.
While we are, of course, concerned, too, about your artistic needs, there are some safeguards as presentors that we have to protect, so that other organizers would have to realize their own responsibilities if they want to embark on their own projects, and not at the expense of CCP.
Thank you for your understanding, as we look forward to your coming events.
With our best wishes for your continued success,
Sincerely yours,
Raul M. Sunico, Ph.D
