ACCORDING to vedic literatures, the great Maharaj Prithu lived many years ago. As a leader, he was so exemplary that he inspired people and brought satisfaction to their hearts. Let?s draw inspiration from his stellar qualities:

As a king, Maharaj Prithu engaged everyone in the pursuit of spiritual principles. He was kind to his people, but chastised the non-religious and demonic. When a person was disrespectful to him, he was forgiving.

The noble leader was a tolerant protector. He remained on the path of piety and was fair to both his son and his son?s enemy. If his son deserved punishment, he didn?t hesitate to punish him. His determination and practical nature pleased everyone. His followers embraced him as their beloved ruler.

Maharaj was willing to serve old men and give shelter to needy souls. He respected women as if they were his mother, and treated his wife as his other half. And, he was an enlightened soul who was most obedient to the Supreme Being.

Departure

For him, material possessions were meaningless and temporary. He loved everyone and was loved in return. In the last moments of his life, Maharaj Prithu divided his riches among his people. He went into the forest to perform austerities in preparation for his departure from the mortal world. He had no other purpose but to satisfy the Supreme. Then, the noble king left for the immortal realm in that perfect state of consciousness.
