THERE?S this nagging thought that I?ve had for years now everything that happens on earth is interconnected with the heavens, cosmos or the galaxy. And that ancient or ?primitive? people knew this all along and developed a language or symbols to convey such knowledge. If they wanted to know what?s going on earth, they looked up to the heavens.
This great, insightful notion has been codified in one simple phrase of Hermetic philosophy: ?As above so below.?
What happens in the sky affects major events on earth, as well as other planets. We cannot get away from it. Statistical studies, for example, had been conducted showing that certain phases of the moon affect not only the tides on Earth?s oceans but also road accidents, women?s menstrual flow, the amount of blood during surgery and the mood of people.
Three days after a solar flare occurs, there are weather disturbances on earth.
There is no longer serious doubt that our ancient ancestors thoroughly knew our lives are interconnected with our galaxy and the universe as a whole. They built extraordinary landmarks, monoliths, wall paintings and massive monuments to record such knowledge and to trace movements of the distant stars and planets without the benefit of such modern instruments as telescopes and astronomical observatories.
The great pyramids in Egypt, formerly regarded by anthropologists as burial grounds of great pharaohs and kings, are now seen as astronomical observatories that plot the movements of the heavenly bodies. The same is true of the mysterious monolithic stone structure in England called Stonehenge.
The big stone tablet left by the ancient Maya people of central and meso-America, which were once thought to be a religious ceremonial stone, has been discovered to be a massive calendar that foretell the events on earth during a 26,000 year cycle starting from 3114 BC to Dec. 21, 2012.
The calendar predicted with unbelievable accuracy every solar and lunar eclipse that had happened and will happen over that period. They left their civilization and disappeared without a trace.
Failed prediction
Geologists and other earth scientists, like seismologists, have been trying to predict when an earthquake or volcanic eruption would take place, to be able to warn people early enough. But they have always failed. Recently they have warned the people of the Philippines and several Southeast Asian countries that a big earthquake will soon hit the area, but they can?t tell when.
Perhaps it would benefit scientists better if they look at the skies to know what?s really going to happen on earth and when. ?As above, so below,? as the ancient hermetic philosophers have been telling us. Maybe it?s time they began to listen to them rather than dismiss their veiled statements as mere superstition.
The interconnectedness of things in the universe happen not only on the physical plane but especially in the plane of consciousness. This fundamental truth has been expressed in many various ways. One modern attempt was articulated by the British biologist Dr. Rupert Sheldrake when he talked about ?morphic resonance.?
Simply stated, when a certain critical mass of people begin to think of a new idea, such an idea is conveyed automatically to a distant group of people without any physical means of communication. The word ?cosmic consciousness? refers to the idea that everything is connected to everything else.
According to John Major Jenkins in his book ?Galactic Alignment, The Transformation of Consciousness According to Mayan, Egyptian and Vedic traditions,? ?Following the ?as above, as below? principle, towns, regions and even trading centers to distant provinces were structured according to a cosmological prototype perceived in the sky.?
