MANILA, Philippines?A two-year old girl was killed and 15 other people were hurt in a vehicular accident on the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway Tuesday afternoon, police said on Wednesday.
The lone fatality, identified as Hazel Joy David, was declared dead on arrival after the passenger jeepney she was in turned turtle at Kilometer 25 of the SCTEx, in the vicinity of Barangay (Village) Pabanlag, Flordiblanca town in Pampanga province, said Senior Superintendent Gil Lebin, provincial police chief.
Initial reports said that the jeepney (CSM 739) driven by Redentor Juico Makaeran was traversing the west-bound lane of the expressway past 2 p.m. going toward Subic when the vehicle's rear right tire exploded, causing it to swerve left, hit a railing, and turn turtle.
All of the vehicle's 15 passengers were brought to the Bataan Peninsula Medical Center for treatment, Lebin said.
