Inner Awareness
Why strange things happen in our life

REGULAR reader Lito sought answers to some puzzling events he couldn?t explain. First, his youngest son damaged the fender of their van while getting out of the garage.

He wished another vehicle would hit the same fender so it could be repaired at some other person?s expense. After a few months, his other son hit another van in their subdivision and he ended up paying double.

Second, a friend invited him to Tagaytay for a birthday party. He didn?t feel like going, so he thought he would make an excuse by saying he was sick or an accident happened that day. True enough, on the way home from buying a gift for the friend, a 10-year-old boy suddenly crossed the street, hit the side of his car and he had to be hospitalized. He paid for the hospitalization of the boy.

The third incident happened again to his youngest son. He hit this time a passenger jeepney and damage to their vehicle was substantial. His son suffered whiplash injury and was paralyzed. This time he did not wish an accident to happen, but it did. He asked why.

Here are my replies to your questions:

Our thoughts are more powerful than we think without our realizing it. Thoughts become physical realities after a while.

There are two hidden laws of nature that are pertinent to your question:

1. The Law of Affirmation or Suggestion, which says ?What you suggest or affirm in your mind manifests in physical reality.

2. The Law of Attraction which says, ?Like attracts like on the mental and spiritual plane.?

Conscious vs subconscious

How come that even if you are not thinking of an accident, even if you don?t want it to happen, it still happens?

I believe this may be due to a conflict between our conscious and subconscious minds. Our conscious mind does not want it to happen, but our subconscious mind sees it otherwise. There is a conflict between the conscious and the subconscious mind. And when there?s a conflict between the two, the subconscious mind always wins, unless it has been programmed to obey the conscious mind. That?s the reason we have always been admonished or advised to think positive thoughts all the time.

The very popular book written by Rhonda Byrne called ?The Secret? explains the mechanics or workings of this law in our everyday life. The book sold over a million copies during the first three months it came off the press.

Unfortunately, the book only dealt with how to get material possessions through the law of affirmation and attraction. It did not deal with the other two equally important hidden laws of nature, namely the Law of Compensation, which says ?Whatever you do will come back to you,? and the Law of Causality, which says, ?Nothing happens by accident, everything has a cause.?

Understanding of these four hidden laws of nature will help us to understand better why things happen the way they do in our life.
