Hospital believes ‘wellness is the new beauty’

THE MEDICAL CITY is one of two hospitals in the country that got accreditation from the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA), the world?s most prestigious accrediting body for international health care organizations. The Medical City garnered a 99.5 percent satisfaction rating.

I had to see for myself the hospital?s amenities. And I was amazed with this state-of-the-art health facility with hotel-like amenities, including a food strip/pocket mall aptly called The Strip.

For those seeking professional help with cosmetic surgery, the hospital?s Center For Wellness & Aesthetics provides holistic approach ranging from weight management program to reconstructive surgery with the assistance of highly-trained medical doctors who are members of the elite Philippine Association of Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetics Surgeons (Papras).

In this era of botched cosmetic jobs, it pays to be handled by excellent doctors who are Papras card-carrying members. True to its tagline, ?Wellness is the new beauty?, The Medical City?s management headed by Dr. Alfredo Bengzon left no stones unturned. Dr. Bengzon served under the late Tita Cory?s administration as health secretary.

Wellness center

Located on the hospital?s sixth floor, the lobby alone of Center for Wellness & Aesthetics gives you a feeling of not being inside a hospital. The reception area resembles a hotel lobby, with high ceilings and full picture windows. Clean lines are all over the place.
Wait until you get inside a room, which resembles a hotel suite, complete with flat screen TV and dresser. Soon, there will be a spa and fitness club, plus Eastern-based wellness treatments such as acupuncture and meditation.

For its aesthetic services, TMC offers V-beam laser, pulse-dye laser, minimally-invasive surgery and the promise of miracle called regenerative medicine popularly known as stem cells treatment.

For reconstructive surgery, they offer breast lift/butt augmentation, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, lipoplasty, among others. For those who are confronted with obesity problems with Body Mass Index (BMI) of 35 and above, bariatrics/lapband surgery is an option. TMC?s Weight Management Program is composed of 4-stage approach: consultation, diagnosis, nutrition and fitness.

For those seeking cosmetic surgery, the hospital has a team of psychologists/psychiatrists to assess the patient?s mental and emotional state before undergoing surgery. The section of Plastic Surgery and Burns is headed by no less than Dr. Conrado De Gracia. He makes sure that all patients get their value-for-money.

The Medical City has over 40 years experience in hospital operation, with over 1,000 physicians. Its world-class health care complex serves 40,000 out-patients annually and 400,000 patients annually. For more information, visit www.themedicalcity.com.
