MANILA, Philippines - So who needs film? With digital cameras of varying megapixels literally in your face, what people need these days are lessons on how to point and shoot.

Which is what the Alcove Perspective is offering this summer: a Digital Photography Workshop for Point and Shoot Camera Users, on April 5, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Filipinas Heritage Library, Makati Ave., Makati City. Among other topics, Bubuy Balangue?s workshop teaches participants how to compose photographs for visual impact, how to use white balance and maximize the other features of point and shoot cameras, the different design elements and how to handle and store cameras.

For details, call (632) 892-1801, text 0917-5594417, or visit www.filipinaslibrary.org.ph

A Loboc High

AFTER a brief hiatus from the concert scene, Bohol?s pride, the Loboc Children?s Choir, the 2003 Barcelona Song Festival champion, will grace the stage again for a two-day concert on April 12 and 13, with two shows each day (3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) at the PETA Theater Center in New Manila, Quezon City.
Joining them are four other choir groups: the UP Cherubims and the Mandaluyong Children?s Choir (on April 12), and the Ateneo Chamber Singers and UP Singing Ambassadors (on April 13).

Part of the proceeds from the show dubbed "Encuentro Filipino, the Manila Concert" will send the children to the United States where they will have a series of shows in 14 cities. The money raised will also go to scholarship programs for talented but indigent choir alumni, as well as to the restoration of the Loboc Church, a National Heritage Site and a National Cultural Treasure. ?

For inquiries, call the Encuentro Secretariat at the PETA office (632) 725-6244, and (632) 410-0821 to 22. Or call 0916-361-1786 (Gardy), and 0916-643-0848.
