MANILA, Philippines ? Who can say no to sweets? Not even show biz celebrities can resist the lure of delectable and mouth-watering confectionery, despite the prospect of loading on some unwanted pounds that can sometimes stall their career.

In interviews with SIM, our favorite stars confess to sugary passions without any hint of regret. Their diverse selection?from chocolate bars to caramel cakes?reveals the child in all of us. How we love to indulge ourselves, no matter the nagging health warnings, the tooth decay and resulting wardrobe malfunction.

Then and now, we succumb to the comforts of a sugar high. To feel good, we munch on something good: something sweet, creamy, decadent and totally self-indulgent.

Claudine Barretto, actress: I have a sweet tooth. I love Costa Brava Cupcakes from Bel-Air, Makati. Royce Dark Chocolate, without the liqueur, is my new favorite. My daughter Sabina can finish a box of Royce Cacao. Also in my list are Estrel?s Caramel Cake and Cunanan Ensaymada.

Janice de Belen, TV host-actress: Mine is a long list. For cookies, I go for Roshan?s Chocolate Chip and Marks and Spencer Shortbread. For candies, Mentos and White Rabbit; cakes, Mameng Vargas? Butter Cake and Vanilla Butter Cake from Marta?s Cakes; chocolates, Royce Milk Chocolate and Nama White Chocolate, as well as Cadbury?s Time Out and White Toblerone. Also in my list are Chef Jun Jun de Guzman?s Butterscotch Bars, Sonja?s Red Velvet and Berries and Pistachio Cupcakes and Mameng Vargas? Brazo de Mercedes.

Kris Bernal, actress: My favorite sweets: Footlong Candy, Choc Nut, Coffee Crumble Cake, Oreo Cookies, cream puff and pinipig ice cream.

Kim Chiu, actress: I love Mango and Pandan Cakes, and it doesn?t matter from what bakeshop. I also love Gummy Banana from Candy Corner, XO Milkshake flavor, and Maxx Cherry and Cinnamon candies. I also love soft batch cookies and big ensaymadas.

Erich Gonzales, actress: I have a sweet tooth. I love anything sweet and I?m really a pastry lover. I love Estrel?s cake. It?s so enticing and delicious.

Keempee de Leon, actor: Hazel and nuts with raisins. Why? If you?re on a diet, you can eat two bars and skip a meal.

Sunshine Dizon, actress: Cream puff and éclair?because of the center filling. They?re not too sweet, either, so they?re my all-time favorites. When it comes to chocolates, I prefer dark chocolates. They make me happy.

Mark Anthony Fernandez, actor: Reese?s?that?s what I have loved ever since I was a kid. That?s No. 1 for me.

Angelu de Leon, actress: For candy, Raisinettes because they?re not just sweet but also sour. For pastry, Costa Brava Caramel Cake because it?s not so sweet, very moist and soft, like comfort food.

Mikee Lee, actor:I love chocolates! They never fail to put me in a good mood. When celebrating a success, I normally have a chocolate cake for dessert, paired with hot or iced chocolate, depending on the weather.

Albert Martinez, actor: Friends from abroad send Patchi Chocolates which can be bought in Hong Kong, Macau, Dubai and Malaysia. Patchi Chocolates melt in your mouth and are not too sweet. I love Goldilocks? ube roll and brownies, too.

Melissa Ricks, actress: I love Starburst and Skittles, and that sinful cake found only in Ala Creme. It?s so delicious. I can?t resist the nuts and chocolates right after a meal. Very sinful!

Chase Vega, actor: First, the mango graham cake. It has the perfect taste and texture. Second would be mango crepe topped with vanilla ice cream and lots of hot fudge. It?s just sinfully delicious.

Megan Young, actress: I love mocha and mango ice cream. Those are my comfort food. For me, it?s the best dessert for summer.

Gerald Anderson, actor: My fave candy is Sour Crawlers. I also love chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookies, Hershey?s chocolate bar and cupcakes.

Nikki Gil, singer-actress: I love sour candy and gummy candy. I love anything by Wonka.
