MANILA, Philippines - Eastwood City Cyberpark led all other economic zones in the country in terms of export revenue, employment generation and salaries paid in 2008.
Data released by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) showed that the 53 outshoring and offshoring (O&O) locators in the Eastwood City Cyberpark posted $323.17 million in services export revenue last year.
This translates to a 41-percent growth year-on-year from $228.09 million in 2007. In 2006, Eastwood City?s services export amounted to $188.5 million.
Eastwood City Cyberpark bested the 87 other Peza-registered IT zones in 2008, with the No. 2 and No. 3 IT parks posting $216 million and $173.3 million in export revenues, respectively.
The number of personnel at the Eastwood City Cyberpark in 2008 was placed at 13,774, about 10 percent higher than the 2007 level. This allowed the cyberpark in Libis, Quezon City, to remain the top employer among all IT zones in the country.
The O&O locator-firms in Eastwood City also tallied the highest total salaries/wages paid last year at P5.054 billion, up 15 percent from year-ago level.
Among the top employers in Eastwood City Cyberpark are Citibank, eTelecare Global Solutions Inc., IBM, Siemens, Dell, Canon, Advance Business Solutions and Motif Limited.
