20: Age of Carlos P. Romulo when he became a newspaper editor. Romulo, a National Artist for Literature, was the first Asian president of the United Nations General Assembly. In 1942, he became the only Asian to win the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism.

1977: Year when pediatrician Fe Del Mundo received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service. Del Mundo, the first Filipina to be admitted to Harvard Medical School, is also a National Scientist and Elizabeth Blackwell Awardee.

11: Number of times that former President Corazon Aquino?s speech ?Restoring Democracy by the Ways of Democracy,? delivered during the Joint Session of the United States Congress in September 1986, was interrupted by applause. The address, which began and ended with standing ovations, was described by then House Speaker Tip O?Neill as ?the finest speech? he has ever heard in his 34 years in Congress.

2000: Year that Jose ?Joe? Burgos was listed among the ?50 World Press Freedom Heroes of the Century? by the International Press Institute. In May of the same year, the Philippine Senate unanimously passed Resolution No. 52 honoring him for his ?heroic deeds and steadfast struggle as a journalist.?

9,000+: Number of nominations that CNN received for its 2009 CNN Hero of the Year. From among the submissions, Efren Peñaflorida was chosen as CNN?s Hero of the Year for starting a ?pushcart classroom? in the Philippines and bringing education to poor children as an alternative to gang membership.

1989: Year that ?Miss Saigon,? which starred Lea Salonga, opened at the West End in London. Salonga won the Olivier, the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Theatre World Awards for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Kim, which she reprised in the musical?s Broadway production.

200+: Estimated number of full-length and contemporary ballets that featured prima ballerina Lisa Macuja as a principal dancer. Her repertoire includes ?Don Quixote,? ?Swan Lake,? ?Giselle? and ?The Nutcracker,? among others. Macuja has performed in some 81 cities spanning five continents.

11: Total number of weeks that Charice Pempengco?s song ?Pyramid? was in the Billboard?s dance chart before it shot to number one in mid-May. ?Pyramid? is one of 14 tracks from Charice?s self-titled US debut album which she formally launched on the ?Oprah Winfrey Show? on May 10.
