Night dives

Route 196
Where: 196-A Katipunan Ave., Blue Ridge A, Quezon City
The digits: 4391972
Operating hours: 6 p.m.-2 a.m.

What you can do there: Watch your favorite bands, jam with them, hang out with your friends and eat good food.

Why we love it: The atmosphere is homey—you can go there in your shorts and flip-flops and no one would flinch. The service is good.

The food is great. Don’t leave without trying the garlic-and-cheese pizza, salpicao, pan-seared tuna, spicy wings and tinapa roll. And the best part—the prices are student-friendly.

Why you should go there this week: Because bands like Sound, UpDharmaDown, THe Ronnies, Chillitees, Sugarfree will be playing.

Filling Station

Where: 5012 P. Burgos St., Makati
The digits: 8972053
Operating hours: It’s open 24/7.

What you can do there: Eat good food, hang out with friends, play billiards, stare at the interiors and beg the waitresses to sell you that old clock or old poster you’ve been eyeing

Why we love it: Because it’s open 24 hours and because it makes you forget that you are smack dab in the middle of Makati’s red-light district. The food is good and the servings are big—excellent for a night out with friends.

Try the milkshakes, they’re really thick. Order the pizzas, buffalo wings, pork chops, salads, nachos, pasta, even the cakes—they’re all good.

Why you should go there this week: Because Filling Station has updated its menu (checkout their new Tex-Mex offerings), removed the bar from the ground floor and installed even more cozy booths for you and your friends.
