MANILA, Philippines?Admit it. When you?re in school, you don?t want to see anyone with the same school bag. This is the campus equivalent of running into someone wearing the same dress at a party.
When you are stuck wearing a uniform day after day after day, one way to express yourself is with the bag you carry. How can you stand out if you?re carrying the same bag as everyone else?
Bratpack has the answer.
Frustrated by the fact that Jansport?s artists? series isn?t available in Asia, Jansport brand manager Clytie Choa thought of rounding up local artists to use Bratpack?s bags as a canvas for their art.
?I thought that our artists can do even better,? she said.
The store thus introduced Graphic Remix, a line of Jansport, Tagger and Timbuk2 bags that were hand-painted by the country?s up-and-coming artists. While last year?s promotions were mostly in-store, this year, it has upped the ante with a mall tour and a school tour starting in De La Salle University.
At the show, Bratpack didn?t just exhibit the artists? unique creations, it also gave people the chance to make a statement with their bags by having them airsprayed. There were templates they could choose from, but they were also allowed to come up with designs that fit their personalities perfectly.
The feedback has been excellent. ?There were even students who cut class just to buy bags,? Clytie said.
?People love bag customization because they like being different,? said Kristine Villaflor, Marketing Communications Officer for Bratpack.
Each hand-painted bag is uniqueno. ?You get a different set of bags at every Bratpack branch,? Kristine said.
Jansport has always been an advocate of art, creativity and individuality, Kristine said. It believes in giving people the chance to be different.
?This is why we bring in the bags in so many different colors and prints. Right now we have over 20 prints. If people want to make their bags more unique, they can have them airsprayed. And if they want to get their hands on one-of-a-kind pieces, they can choose from Graphic Remix creations,? she said.
Clytie and Kristine would also like to encourage people to get creative with their own bags. ?They can paint and embellish the bags themselves. We have over 10 solid colors to choose from.?
Bratpack has a lot of great things in store for bag fans in the future. Not only will the Graphic Remix campaign include more brands soon. The store is also opening its flagship shop in Greenbelt 5 in the last quarter of this year.
The store will be huge, with even more room for creativity.
