What does your school bag say about you?

By Bianca Consunji

?A PERSON is defined by the kind of bag he or she carries,? says bag psychologist Liza Mapagu. ?It?s a miniature home?the bag is a symbol of belonging and an extension of the self.?

It?s no wonder that people are obsessed with bags?after all, if you?re judged by the bag you carry, then it?s always best to put your best foot (or arm) forward. And we?re not talking about brands here, but styles; after all, not everyone can flaunt a designer bag.

What?s your everyday bag? Do you usually carry a messenger bag, backpack, or tote bag to school or work? Read on to find out what your bag says about you.

Brightly colored bags

Brightly colored bags like pink, purple, blue and green indicate that the user is fun, friendly and approachable. People who are outgoing and sociable tend to choose these colors. People with bright bags will usually strike up a conversation with a complete stranger.

Big and bulky bags

Bulky and oversized bags are casual and are often associated with younger individuals who tend to bring their entire house with them and require a lot of space. Down-to-earth, lower-maintenance people often use big bags.

Bags with buckles and zippers

People who choose bags with lots of buckles and zippers tend to unleash their wild sides. They tend to act before they think and are always ready for a good time. The extra buckles and zippers signify a ?bad? image.

Neutral colors

People who choose black or brown handbags tend to be more reserved and professional and are often mistaken as snobbish. They?re practical and no-nonsense.

Small bags

Since small bags hold only the absolute necessities, mature organized people often use clutch bags.

Messenger bags

Often used by trendy, on-the-go individuals who need a lot of space, but don?t want to use traditional backpacks or stuffy briefcases. They?re hip, trendy, and easygoing.
