Trilogy of treats in one store

MANILA, Philippines ? The Herrera siblings are at it again. Last May 27, Steve Aoki, with Jon, Rosario and Vicky Herrera, opened Trilogy Boutique and Canteen, a lifestyle boutique that offers must-haves for a young trendsetter: fashion, music, and yes, food.

The store?s name is derived from three important elements: clothes, accessories and books. Trilogy carries different brands such as Obey, Andy Warhol watches, Matiko Footwear, gourmet and junk food, with items handpicked by stylist sibling Rosario.

Vicky, the youngest of the Herreras, says the clothes are ?mostly clean designs?from WeSC to Generic Surplus?and are wearable, with a good sprinkle of loud statement pieces like the Adidas Originals by Originals Collection of Jeremy Scott and the Dim Mak graphic T-shirts. Majority of our brands right now are from the US, but there are a few we will be getting from all over the world.?

Many of the boutique?s items are also from exclusive and niche lines to ensure originality.

Vicky recounts that during a trip to Las Vegas last February to watch trade shows as part of the business planning that began in 2008, she, Jon and Rosario met up with Steve, who was showcasing his Dim Mak collections.

?Jon and Steve started talking and in a matter of minutes, Steve became our partner!? she says. ?He was so excited about it. He loves flying to Manila, and he and Jon have this tight brotherly bond. So I guess this really is a family business!?

Individuality

Trilogy Boutique and Canteen targets buyers who have a strong sense of individuality and personal style. That philosophy begins with the boutique itself, which is situated outside a mall.

?With Trilogy, the items are really one-of-a-kind, as compared to the same stuff sold in different malls,? says Vicky.

Another unique point to Trilogy? Fusing a café with the store. Jon invited Chef Fern Aracama of Embassy Supperclub to work on the canteen, which now serves soup, salads, panini and the like.

?Simple, good food,? says Jon.

Erik Cua designed the store?s non-intimidating design of simple wood panels and white chairs and couches.

?We made it warm and inviting because we want the shoppers to feel comfortable as they look around,? says Vicky.

?It has a cozy atmosphere where you can shop and lounge around. And the products?our brand selection is carefully chosen, so you know whatever you buy is special, affordable, and you?re getting the best quality at the best price!?

Visit Trilogy Boutique and Canteen from Monday to Sunday at 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 110 Alvion Center, Rada St., Legaspi Vill., Makati, Philippines; http://trilogyboutique.multiply.com.
