MANILA, Philippines ? Working in the fashion industry is often tagged as ?the most fun job.? To be constantly surrounded by clothes, shoes, bags, makeup, and jewelry and attending the latest launches and parties ? which are all considered to be ?official business? ? just takes the cake for some.
But as most designers, stylists, photographers, and makeup artists will say, it?s no walk in the park. Much work goes on behind the scenes just to achieve perfection in one photo or one frame of a TV commercial.
But what if you could play stylist without having to leave the house?
Looklet.com allows you to log in to create your own look.
Upon signing up, the website leads you to a page with a model where you can mix and match pre-selected clothes from various designers and brands.
Options of wearing a top tucked in the pants or an evening bag as a clutch or on the shoulder makes the little details styling more realistic. Jackets and cardigans can be buttoned up, halfway, or left unbuttoned completely, and the layering options are almost endless. Each added item is credited on the side of the photo and models can be made to turn around to show the backside. It?s paper dolls meets The Sartorialist!
After choosing the look, the setting or location must be chosen. Looklet currently offers 56 locations, taking you from the streets of the city, to the Japanese cherry blossoms, to the grocery store, or even the studio. You can even change the photos? lighting. Once you?re done, it?s time to ?shoot this look? which you name and are added to your page and the websites? looks page.
Each completed look is updated on Looklet?s looks page where users can view what other users have created which they can ?heart? or in Facebook terms, ?like.? Remixing or editing a look created by a different user can also be done and made into your own look.

What do you love about Looklet?
I saw a link of Looklet on my friend?s Facebook account together with a style she designed. Since I was young, I was into dressing up my Barbies and paper dolls, and this is the paper doll of today, I guess.
How much time do you spend on Looklet?
I don?t really spend too much time on it but if I do start with one, I end up doing more, since it?s so accessible.
How do you find the selection of clothes and brands?
I love the selection because there are a lot of different styles to choose from and we can actually make cute outfits which we don?t get to try on here in Manila.

What do you love about Looklet?
My friend, Bianca was talking about it over dinner, so I checked it out. I was completely hooked the minute I signed up. I love it because as a stylist, it?s my dream to have a closet full of merchandise to freely use and to create endless looks with that magical closet.
How much time do you spend on Looklet?
In my line of work where everything is rushed with the ?Time is precious, time is money? mindset, I still get a lot of down time, so every chance I get I?m always on Looklet. I even ask my friends or co-workers to give me ?tests? wherein they dictate a look that I have to accomplish and they judge it afterwards. I love it.
Have you influenced any of your friends to join?
I asked a lot of my friends to join. They?re so amused about what I do and they think it?s ?the best job in the world? Looklet gives them some sort of insight to what I do and they enjoy it as much as I do. Of course, since it?s not the ?real world,? they have embellished ideas of what a glamorous and fun job it is. I always tell them ?oh my gosh, it?s a fabulous and ?unfabulous? at the same time!? We always ask each other to check out another?s looks and ?heart? them. It?s really fun.
How do you find the selection of clothes and brands?
I would love to see more high fashion and couture pieces, but generally, I love everything on it. There?s a wide range of clothes and accessories to choose from. You can create practically any look using it. Overall, I?m pretty much satisfied. I sometimes wish I could press ?print? and the clothes itself will come out of my printer. But no, it doesn?t work... I tried.

What do you love about Looklet?
I discovered it on Facebook at 2 a.m. A lot of my friends were posting pictures of the looks they made. At first, I thought it was just links to some online magazine, then I opened the link posted by my stylist friend Matt Gozum and realized what it was and my addiction started.
How much time do you spend on Looklet?
I usually log on at night when I can?t sleep. The first week I would spend hours, but now I do things faster, ha ha! At least an hour or less than an hour to finish a look, ha ha!
Have you influenced any of your friends to join?
I?ve just told some about it to check it out and they would text me a day after that they are addicted to it, too!
How do you find the selection of clothes and brands?
They have a nice selection, not much of the mainstream labels though. But I hope in the future it would have a wider selection.
