A Beautiful Mess
www.abeautifulmess.typepad.com
It isn?t the title of Jason Mraz?s song, but the domain is owned by Elsie Flannigan, 25, indie artist from Springfield, who hasn?t had a ?normal job in five years.? So she channels her creativity into her colorful virtual space, posting random artsy projects. Her postings are mostly accompanied by modish photos she herself has taken. She recently launched Red Velvet Art store, (which can also be found online at www.redvelvetart.com) with like-minded friends, who have dreams of ?taking over the world and making it look so cute!?
The store offers quirky knickknacks, which Flannigan posts on her site. Amid art materials, Flannigan comes up with refreshing designs, creating covetable craft and art pieces. Who would have thought that vintage spools of thread and wood could be made into toys? Felt paper into brooches and briefs made for gals, in hot pink? Her site?s name is quite apt, a beautiful mess, indeed.

Intrigued by dark secrets of men and women? Log on to this site, which has garnered 221,971,437 visitors, as of my last log. People anonymously confess their secrets for the whole world to see in artsy postcard-sized images. You?ll be amazed by the varied confessions on relationships, love, cheating, drugs, and whatnot. (From wedding proposals to death threats!) Sometimes the posts tell tales of love lost: ?By the time you read this, I?m already engaged to someone else, but my heart still longs for you...? Or of unrequited love: ?I hate you for loving her? (with an image of a gun pointing to the bleeding heart). Who knows? You might soon find yourself baring your soul on a postcard and mailing it to this blog.
Little People
http://little-people.blogspot.com
It?s a street art project that captures the land of the little people, who are left on the streets of London to fend for themselves. (Think ant-size!) They seem to have popped out of ?Gulliver?s Travels?? Liliput Land. Some little people survive, others are abducted by ?fast-food? aliens, still others are crushed by unfortunate accidents. Those who thrive, get into mundane activities like using the ATM, singing at the crossroads, and even hooking up. When the photo zooms out to their surroundings, the tiny folk vanish like mere specs. So beware, the next time you?re out, you might end up stepping on little people.
