Turning the tables

MANILA, Philippines? You?ve seen the billboards, the posters and the ads. Victor Basa pointing a Holga in your direction. Bamboo about to take your picture with his Fisheye.

They?re promoting Penshoppe?s newest campaign?one that aims to put the spotlight on the customers and not the models. With the focus on the importance of individuality, Penshoppe aims to equip people with clothes and accessories that can be mixed and matched to help them stand out in a crowd.

The newest collection, which is inspired by the New Wave movement and anti-establishment icons like The Ramones, The Cure and Blondie, targets this generation?s non-conformists and fun rebels. No fuss and frills?just bold graphics, funky colors and a lot of attitude.

Super and Penshoppe invaded Oh Shoot! Toy Camera Shop one Sunday and models Dawn Balagot and Einar Ingebrigsten were shot with the lomo cameras highlighted in their campaign. Holga, Fisheye, LC-A and TLR?each shot of each film camera is unique, just the way every individual should be.

Penshoppe says, ?Shoot you!? We say, ?No, shoot you!?

Crowd standout

Meet 18-year-old Dawn Balagot?culinary student, Penshoppe endorser and crowd standout.

Dawn, who first joined Penshoppe when she was 14 years old, got her modeling break by listening to the radio.

Madonna meets Gwen

?I love the ?80s look!? said Dawn when asked to describe her personal style. ?I love black and bright colors. I?ll say, half Madonna and half Gwen Stefani with a bit of Axl Rose! Just imagine. Haha! But one thing is for sure, I can never be too girly?only when required.?

I?m busy with... school and work.

I never leave home without... my phone, my bracelets/charms, a necklace with a teddy bear that was given to me, my driver?s license, my wallet, my iPod, chopstick for my hair and a hair tie. Hahaha!

I love Penshoppe because... I love everything about Penshoppe! I don?t just love the collection but also the people I get to work with. They?re all so nice and I consider them as my other family.

My favorite pieces from the current collection include... the hoodies and the colored skinny jeans! I also love the shirts made for the guys. I get some of my shirts from the guys? section.

I am passionate about... everything that I do actually. But I am currently educating myself at Enderun which is a cooking school. I want to learn how to cook other things besides bacon!

Five things people should know about me: I am outgoing, loving, approachable, down-to-earth and a happy-go-lucky gal.

This generation is... independent, outgoing, passionate, open-minded and stylish.
