MANILA, Philippines—For a new tense moments back there, Grand Theft Auto IV was running on so much hype, many feared it would trip, stumble, and just fall flat on its face. However, GTA IV simply sent apology letters to those unfortunate, newly released games left on the shelves after its release.
The latest installment is arguably the greatest not just in the GTA series, but also for many, it ranks as one of the greatest games in this console generation.
Players take the role of Nikolai Belic, an illegal European immigrant lured to Liberty City by a deceitful cousin. As you get entangled in its web of colorful characters and urban legends, the game gives you the option to do what you want.
GTA IV proves it is truly a gem of sandbox game: Improved gunplay, more realistic carjacking sequences, the multiplayer modes, the realistic radio stations, and tons of extra things.
The game has only a few minor flaws, mostly technical, such as minor slowdown, shadow flicker, and occasional AI issues. None of these put a dent in the overall GTA IV experience. In the end, we all can ask—“Was there ever any doubt?”
