GET your most feminine clothes ready for the holiday season as sculptured silhouettes and vintage pieces dominate the fashion scene for the last two months of the year.
During Fashion Week last October, Bayo presented a line of clothes perfect for the numerous get-togethers during the Christmas season—skirts, coats, shorts dresses and pants in fabrics such as chiffon, silk and denim.
Key trends in the collection include Scottish highlands-inspired items (tartan coats and skirts), 1950s silhouettes (cinched waists and full hemlines) and denim combined with plaid. Bayo also paid tribute to the '90s by including boyfriend jeans, hoodies, flannel shirts, vests, mini dresses and leggings in the show.
The clothes presented in the show were obviously geared for the cold weather, as models swathed in warm coats, scarves, knitted hoodies and tights walked down the runway. Long tops paired with tight black pants or opaque black tights dominated the collection, while bright bags provided occasional splashes of color to the generally dark-hued line.
Key colors for the season include black, gray, plum and dark blue. Paired with monochromatic pieces or the much-lauded plaid, the look smacks of the early '90s, when tights and tartan reigned supreme. Another inspiration of the collection is foggy London—short dresses and smart coats paired with black stockings.

Key trends:
Tartan
Avoid looking dated by pairing the pattern with smart tailoring and monochromatic pieces. Never wear plaid (especially if it's made of flannel) with faded denim, unless you want to bring back grunge!
'90s fashion
Vests, wide-legged pants, minimalism—it's all about the '90s. Update your look with a bright accessory or two.
Feminine silhouettes
High waists and full skirts are back with a vengeance! Use wide belts to give the illusion of a tiny waist, and make sure the skirt you're wearing has a wide hemline.
