THERE are many ways to help the victims of ?Ondoy? ? you can go to relief centers and help repack, you can relay importance message on your Facebook and Twitter, you can raid your closet for clothes and shoes, you can donate food, toiletries, medicines and drinking water.
But when your funds have run low and you?re still aching to give ? what can you do?
Put up stuff for auction.
This was the brilliant idea of interior designer Anna Leah Hernandez. Still wanting to give after leaving her closet half empty, she decided she can get relief goods from strangers by setting up a Multiply account and putting pre-loved stuff up for auction.
The first things she posted? Barely used sneakers.
And they?re not just ordinary sneakers. So far she?s posted five pairs of Nike sneakers, some of which are limited edition. She wants medicines and water in exchange for them ? 3 boxes of Biogesic for the high cut ones, two for the low-cut pairs.
Others have already followed suit, posting bags, toy cameras and other shoes.
She wants other people to do the same. ?Feel free to post items you want to trade for donations. State what you want in exchange for your goodies. No cash, please,? she wrote.
