Ridiculous game shows

MANILA, Philippines—The Japanese certainly know how to make an entertaining show. Some of the most hilarious YouTube videos are from various Japanese shows (which range from toilet pranks to fake mob riots), and this batch is no exception.

A quick surf through YouTube to find the most ridiculous game shows yielded thousands of results. However, the most viewed ones were—surprise, surprise—Japanese. From marshmallow-eating contests to a hilarious game of human Tetris, you’ll definitely be entertained for hours.

Human Tetris

Created to test the contestants’ flexibility and ability to think quickly, this game show has participants contorting themselves into various poses to fit into shapes molded through a fast-moving Styrofoam wall. Otherwise, the wall pushes them into a pool of water.

While some of the shapes are pretty easy to fit into (like large circles), most of the shapes are near impossible to fit into, especially for the heftier contestants. You’ll double over in laughter as you watch people jumping and bending over backward in their attempts to contort themselves into silly shapes.

Marshmallow eating

Again, this show exists merely to poke fun at the contestants. Participants are asked to bite off a marshmallow dangled in front of them. However, the seemingly simple task is more complicated than it seems, as the contestants are bound to a wall by a rubber strap tied around their faces. The fun is in watching the faces of the contestants get pulled out of shape by the rubber strap as they reach for the mallows.

Don’t laugh!

In this show, contestants are made to watch the most inane (and ridiculous) stunts, such as a man in a thong prancing on the stage. The catch? They can’t laugh, or else they’ll be subjected to various punishments, such as tickling marathons and resounding slaps on the butt with a paddle. Cruel, but rather funny.
